Loas wildlife project

In January 2024, Cosimo Franchetto had the opportunity to serve as a volunteer veterinarian at Lao Conservation Trust for Wildlife in Laos. Collaborating with the front-line veterinary team, their primary goal was to combat illegal wildlife trafficking. Each day brought new challenges and chances to impact the successful release of endangered animals. Whether administering medical treatment to injured animals, aiding in rehabilitation efforts, or joining rescue missions, every task felt like a crucial contribution to our overarching mission. It was a remarkable opportunity to provide essential care and instill hope for the future of these invaluable creatures in wildlife conservation efforts.

Wild bee project

At the moment we are working together with a number of other associations. One of these associations is the Utrechtse Landschap in order to increase the bee population in the region along the Nederrijn.
Bees are crucial to the existence of wildflowers and plants. What everybody can do at home is grow more bee friendly plants which can be easily found online. In this project, in order to increase bees on a larger scale sand hills are built next to the new clinic ‘Utrechtse Heuvelrug’. This will suffice as a breeding spot for bees which is thought to result in an increase of bees. Research has shown that bees prefer sand to dig into with enough sunshine covering it, meaning little vegetation is preferred.
